A day of love

Blog to the blog. It’s Waynesday & Valentine’s Day rolled into one. It’s been a wild week thus far, kicked off by a Sunday night shift at Diamonds. It’s the money shift for the DJ’s, as we take care of VIP dances. Money wise, it’s a big night that helps to balance the slow shifts. Getting home late Sunday, I chose to stay awake rather than catch 4 hours of sleep. I watched Superman Returns to pass the time. I liked the movie and felt it was a nice continuation of the series. My initial thoughts were torn from my love of Smallville. I recommend checking it out. The parallels with the first were very apparent, giving a timeless quality to the series with a modern day twist, presenting the man of steel with very human characteristics. The movie ended in time to make it to the Red Arrow for the 8:45 departure, however, my internet booking was not received in time giving me a 3 hour layover till noon. It was during this time when my decision to stay awake seemed to be a poor choice. With a later arrival, I feared unforeseen circumstances would occur and delay my departure, and they did. Tapper picked me up from the Quality Inn at 3:30. We proceeded to pick up the Cav from his brother’s Condo on the east side. I thought they lived up north still. Foolish me. After picking up the car, I decided to get the oil change as neither Tapper, nor Mark had done so previously. The last thing I needed was another blown engine enroute to Edmonton, and with weather going the way it was, that was not an option. The process took longer than expected at Pennzoil, so Ryan bid me adieu and bowed out at 4:30. After discussions with the oil dudes on conditions of the Rear diff and Trannie fluid, my departure time pushed back to 6:00pm. This would certainly mean a very late arrival for my night shift. I decided to bite the bullet and call Ferd to ask if he would pull a double for me, as weather was terrible. He agreed relieving a great deal of stress. The drive home was slow & steady, and very comfortable as you would expect in a Cadillac. The car ran well, however the headlights made seeing the road a challenge as they are aimed towards the ditch, plus the inside of the windows were extremely dirty. I stopped in Red Deer to clean the driver’s side for better visibility. I am waiting for warmer weather this week to finish the job. She’s a bit dusty from a few years of retirement. She’s running a bit rough from older parts, so I bought new plugs, air filter and carb cleaner yesterday. I am hoping this will smooth out the acceleration and improve gas mileage. With a 7.0L engine, that’s a lot to ask however, every little bit helps. It’s quite a feeling to own a Cadillac, and until now, I’ve only known the pleasure of driving one through Tapper, when he first acquired the ’79 or occasional test drives at the dealership and driving BJ’s STS. The ’79 has a distinct size advantage, and carries a unique stigma. She get’s plenty of looks from other drivers. All in all, I happy to be back on the road. I briefly considered installing the rear spoiler from my Honda, however, my sense of reason & sanity prevailed. She would be one of a kind. Sound system, and tinted windows are the next course of order. By then, spring will be here, hopefully, then it’s back to two wheels. I spoke with Collin this evening about painting my bike. I want it one colour, instead of black & Red, Red & black. Still in the air, as I want a bigger bike this year. The 600 was fine for ripping around town, but on the highway, she leaves a lot to be desired. A bigger bike will give a smoother ride. I am hoping to get out with Jayson for a few trips. Give him a chance to enjoy his British toy. Back to my week, Tuesday, I met with Chris to discuss improvements at Dante’s. Our discussion was very positive, with a go ahead on almost everything. He’s a great guy with a good understanding of the intricacies of nightclub operations. This makes life easy on both of us. I am looking forward to positive results & comments in the next few months from these changes. Today, was bit of a bust, as I slept the day away, still trying to recover from my road trip. I woke up at half 12 for a bathroom break only to go back to sleep. I woke up at 3:00 when I was schedule to start work. Oops. I got in before 4:00 and got everything ready for opening. Peeps’ was really cool about it. He’s good people too. It’s a pleasure to work with gentlemen like Chris & Ryan. They make their work environment’s fun while maintaining professionalism. Kudos to them. As for the rest of the week, gotta get the Caddy put in my name, plus find the time to give her a tune up.
The weeks are flying by as of late. I am hoping to settle into a routine more conducive of study for my return to flying. This nonsense with vehicles as plagued me since October. I hope this has come to an end. On the personal side, I am hoping to say a certain young lady when I register my car. She caught my fancy when I registered the Honda, so with another opportunity to her business, I plan to capitalize from the visit, lest rumours start to circulate about me being gay. Uuuh, no. So to all you lovers out there, hope you get some on this day of love. You deserve it. Cheers!

Government Organized Democracy

On a night or better yet, an early morning like today, I had an epiphany. My thoughts focused on a word of important religious significance.
It came to me, when I realized the word GOD was an acronym. My initial thoughts were scattered, however, this warranted time on the puter.
After 2 months of reflection, I decided to make sense, or at best a loose understanding of these thoughts. On a completely different subject, how did the Traveling Gnome know about “redonquless?” That in itself must be described as redonquless. I digress.
As I am in the developmental stage of this theory, I feel it’s important to say, I feel my theory “sounds” plausible.
Here’s the summation. From the past 4000 years, give or take 17 or 18 years, western culture’s lust for greed & power has preyed on the meek & humble. With the creation of Christianity, western culture, through centuries of war, education and resolve fashioned a new way of life, maintaining religious control. This was done with the creation of government, allowing individuals a voice in their day to day lives.
Centuries of influence, chosen and forced, from Persian to Germanic, Roman to Greek, created the foundations of modern democracy. With minimal education the commoners would be easily exploited by both the church and the newly formed state.
The Big Con. How do you make and keep millions of people follow a status quo? Create a need for eternal salvation or eternal damnation. The simple equation of good versus evil.
It’s at this point, I think to myself where’s Noomie for guidance? He always has a unique perspective on this kind of stuff. It’s from his and Ryan’s involvement in the Mason’s that I am pursuing a greater understanding of Christianity. To the religious types, I would be considered agnostic. I consider myself to be spiritual, believing in Karma for daily guidance. This approach to life works well for me. I believe there are greater forces at work that exceed my understanding. It’s a leap of faith as they say.
My studies of World Religion, back in the day, enlightened me to other beliefs thus furthering my discontent of Christianity and its transgressions. Growing up, the realization of these transgressions overwhelmed my young mind. I was perplexed my mother, along with many members of my family believed in this way of life. I am thankful for this educational experience. I feared the class focused on Christianity, and that would make me unhappy. Years of education tempered with an insatiable appetite for “why” lead me towards a balanced equation. Science taught me to question the “word of GOD” and with no scientific proof to the contrary my ideals changed to incorporate a more worldly perspective of spirituality.

Road Trip

It's the start of a new month that finds me in Cowtown hanging out with Tapps. It's a night at home watching the Oilers, drinking Sner and taking care of bizsnatch for Cory's arrival. The games was a bust, and yet again, our defense fail Rolle, who should have had the night off. I agree with Cracker, when he said, leave Jussi in til he loses. With the way our D's playing it's weighing heavy on Rolle. On to brighter events. Hooked up with Christopher & NMZ at the Big Easy. Felt like we were in a library...what's up with that. That's all for now. G to the D, what ever that means!! Daisy Duke day on Monday, come say hi.
Ciao for now.
