The Quest for Lord Stanley's Cup

We've come to that time of the year, flowers blooming, sunshing, Canada melting. This can mean only one thing! NHL playoffs! It's a great year, as the greatest hockey club ever returns to the ice in their bid for the CUP! It was a sad season 03/04. A last ditch run for the playoffs saw us come up short, but this year, we made it in. With the great teams in the West, it's shaping up to be a good one. I've got to say we are in for a challenge with the Red Wings this year, however with the teams they play the majority of the year, and with a descent record against them this year, we've got a chance. Having gone to 2 Oilers games this year in Calgary, I feel we've got to make it to the second round, just to make sure them Flames fans know we still mean business. It's tough to be an Oilers fan in Calgary, especially when they lose. That walk of shame's rough, although when we win, it's all the sweeter, especially in an O/T shootout!
With that being said good luck to my Oilers, and to all Canadian teams. We gotta represent.
I am passing on the Wayne of the week, as I got him in earlier with Mr Newton, I will however say, even a bartender needs some to unload their troubles on.
Make mine a double, and a glass of water....self preservation, Nooman style.

Always look on the Bright side of life

Here we are day 3 of our 3rd last week in the Caribbean. After an event filled evening, I am feeling the effects of my celebratory behavior. It all started innocently enough when Easter dinner. Our chef & cooks stepped last night to prepare a mighty feast for the staff & crew. I was the bartender, and let me say, a bottle of wine before dinner helps to kick the evening off. Dinner was followed by more drinks in Farzad's cabin. With lent concluding, we joined together for Gavin who went through 40 days as a commitment to God. Good on him considering the environment we live in, he came through in flying style! Nearing 11:00pm, I continued on my way to sort out Bingo. Sadly, during the setup a tragedy befell the Bingo board. A fuse blew, thus delaying the start, to which I ran feverishly to the front of the ship to borrow a spare from our guest board, only to return and have the board not work. So, only one thing to do, cancel the session. Oh what an night, so more drinking to soften the pain of defeat. With that behind me, it's a new day. This morning we stopped at Grand Turk for a medical emergency. From time to time, we divert in order to save a life. In extreme cases, we can land a helicopter on the bow of the ship. With most of my work caught up on, I am going to finish my emails, and go back to sleep. Something I haven't done since last week. All for good cause.
Today's famous Wayne comes from the City of Sin, America's playground, the home of my favourite TV show & in my top 5 places to Holiday. Let's make give him a big Waynesday report welcome, Mr Wayne Newton. A legend on the scene, with his own theatre at the Stardust, he's brought joy to many with his smooth vocal stylings. Danke Schoen, darling danke schoen.

The Star of our show

Of course, I have to make an appearance on the first day on my blog. Come on, my fans deserve it. So think of yourself behind the camera, taking this lovely picture of me in St Maarten. The sun, the sand and the surf...

Inaugural Voyage

In keeping up with the Jones, more like the Smid's & the Newman's of this world, it's time to bring a voice to the fast moving world of Holidayland. This magical place I've chosen to earn a meager pittance to support my future goal of flying. As with all great ideas, the first step is have a drink and ponder the possibilities of what this mighty forum known as "Blog" has to offer. I have a few ideas of where I want to go with this, firstly, a tribute corner to great "Waynes" of our time, secondly, as the title of my blog indicates, a report of happenings in and around my world, and thirdly, random thoughts. Everything else will find it's own place.
Our first great Wayne in history, is none other than the Great one himself. Yes, arguably the greatest athlete of all time and certainly the greatest hockey player ever, Mr Wayne Gretzky. I could go on & on about the how's & why for's, but we know why. Enough said.
Another Waynesday, or my Namesday for those of you still learning Wayneisms, to many others, it's mid week or Humpday as referred to by the 630 CHED Morning Zoo. Wow, there's a blast from the past, back in the day when AM radio ruled the air waves and Digital technology was something only dreamed about at night by geeky college students, like young Billy Gates, or Stevie Jobbs.
My Waynesday adventures brings me to two tropical islands in the Caribbean. This week, we are in Grand Cayman. A lovely little chunk of rock due south of Cuba, perched on the edge of a monster precipice that descends 4 miles to the floor of the Caribbean Sea. That's quite a depth. To put it into perspective, if you took the Voyager of the Seas and stood it on end, you would need 21 of them to break the surface or 21 Empire State buildings. Cayman's great for many fun activities, mostly water orientated. Last time I was here, back in January, we went diving. What's so great about that you ask? Well, it was to a depth of 203'. Deep enough to get Narc'd. A process by which the pressure of the water forces nitrogen from the air into your cells giving you a sense of euphoria or intoxication. For a short period of time and in a controlled setting, with let's say a dive instructor & a deep sea salvage diver, it's fun as hell! "Here fishy, fishy." I am hoping to go diving before we head to Europe. Another great activity is going to Stingray City. Those rays are freaky weird, with their googley eyes, velvety skin and vacuum cleaner mouth. I am planning to go next time, hopefully with some hot chicks.
Why is it when you want to sleep in to catch up on rest someone always calls and wakes you up?
I am embarking on a bold new journey into the world of writing. Many thanks to my muse for putting this idea into my head 3 year ago.

Blog away, Blog away
